Product Rule

The product rule differentiates the product of two functions: if y=uvy=uv, then dydx=udvdx+vdudx\frac{dy}{dx}=u\frac{dv}{dx}+v\frac{du}{dx}. Each function is differentiated in turn while the other is left unchanged, and the two results are added.

It is needed whenever two expressions in xx are multiplied.
