Quotient Rule

The quotient rule differentiates one function divided by another: if y=uvy=\frac{u}{v}, then dydx=vdudxudvdxv2\frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{v\frac{du}{dx}-u\frac{dv}{dx}}{v^{2}}. The order of the two terms in the numerator matters, since subtraction is not commutative, so care is needed to place them correctly.
