SPM Additional Mathematics Syllabus

Student organising SPM Additional Mathematics syllabus materials

The SPM Additional Mathematics syllabus has 18 chapters across two years, 10 in Form 4 and 8 in Form 5. Below is every chapter, each with notes, worked examples and practice traced to the official KSSM DSKP.

Form 4, 10 chapters

Form 5, 8 chapters

How to work through it

Add Math rewards students who follow the syllabus in order rather than jumping to whatever looks hardest, because almost every chapter leans on the ones before it. The Form 4 algebra spine, functions, quadratic functions, indices and logarithms, coordinate geometry, is worth getting genuinely solid first, since the Form 5 calculus and the harder problem-solving quietly assume it.

For each chapter, the reliable pattern is the same: understand the idea, learn the method, then practise full written solutions until the working is automatic and you can reproduce it without notes. Every chapter page below gives you notes, worked examples, common mistakes, a Paper 2 answering guide and key terms, so you can revise a topic from several angles rather than reading it once.

If a chapter feels stuck, it is usually one specific missing idea, often from an earlier chapter, rather than the whole topic, which is exactly the kind of gap a one-to-one lesson finds quickly.

How the syllabus is examined

SPM Additional Mathematics (code 3472) is assessed by two written papers, Paper 1 (2 hours, 80 marks) and Paper 2 (2 hours 30 minutes, 100 marks). There is no Paper 3.

Every chapter below can appear in either paper. You may use a non-programmable scientific calculator, and marking is analytic, you earn marks for correct method and working, not only for the final answer.

Good to know

Because marking is analytic, showing clear working protects your marks even when a final answer slips, a habit our teachers build from Chapter 1.
