Inverse Function

An inverse function f1f^{-1} reverses a function, sending each image back to its original object, so f1(f(x))=xf^{-1}(f(x))=x. Only one-to-one functions have inverses.

To find f1(x)f^{-1}(x), let y=f(x)y=f(x), make xx the subject, then swap the letters.

Where it appears in Add Math

You meet Inverse Function in the Functions chapter of SPM Additional Mathematics. Knowing the term precisely matters in the exam: questions often hinge on reading a keyword correctly, and because SPM marking is analytic, using the right definition in your working helps secure method marks.

Our teachers make sure a student can not only recite what Inverse Function means but use it fluently in a full solution.

The term in three languages

Because the SPM Add Math paper is bilingual (BM/EN), it helps to know this term in each language: Inverse Function (EN) · Fungsi Songsang (BM) · 反函数 (中文)
