Gradient

The gradient of a straight line measures its steepness, calculated as the change in yy divided by the change in xx: m=y2y1x2x1m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}. A positive gradient rises from left to right, a negative one falls, and a horizontal line has gradient zero.
