Volume of Revolution

A volume of revolution is the solid formed when a region under a curve is rotated a full turn about an axis. Rotating about the x-axis gives volume V=πaby2dxV=\pi\int_{a}^{b} y^{2}\,dx, obtained by summing thin circular discs.

Rotating about the y-axis uses x2x^{2} and dydy instead.
